Post Care Instructions

  • After microneedling your skin will be red and flushed similar to if you had a moderate sunburn. Redness

should be greatly reduced within 24-48 hours. You may experience swelling, burning, itching, bruising,

soreness, skin tightness, flakiness, sensitivity and dryness. It may take up to 5-7 days for the skin to heal

depending on the extensiveness of your treatment. Make sure to wash your face with only cool water and

mild cleanser and pat dry skin. A Mineral based sunscreen of SPF 30+ should be applied and reapplied

    every 60-90 minutes while outdoors.

Here’s a quick, friendly reminder of what to do (and not do) to help your skin heal like a pro:

    • Stick to gentle skincare only

    • No vitamin A (like Retin-A, Retinol, or Tazorac) for 7 days

    • No exfoliators, harsh toners, or tools for at least a week

    • No chemical peels for 2 weeks

    • Soothe any discomfort With ice packs and Tylenol are great if you’re feeling sore or swollen.

    • Avoid ibuprofen or Motrin — they can slow the healing benefits.

    • Minimize swelling & bruising Snack on fresh pineapple or drink the juice for natural anti-

    • inflammatory support.
 Arnica supplements can help too!

    • Keep out of the sun Avoid direct sun for at least 2 weeks (ideally 30 days).
No tanning beds or self-tanners either — sunscreen is a must.

    • Hands off! Don’t pick at flaking skin or scabs — let your skin shed naturally.

    • No shaving (yet) Wait at least 3 days to shave, or longer if your skin still feels irritated.

    • Avoid heat & sweating No workouts, steam rooms, Jacuzzis, or saunas until your skin is fully calm (usually 3–7 days).

Full Recovery Resume Normal Skincare Routine:

(After 7 Days or when peeling is complete):

      • Gradually reintroduce your regular skincare products, but continue to avoid harsh exfoliants or products with active ingredients until the skin is fully healed.

    • Sun Protection

      • Continue with daily sunscreen SPF 30+, use for several months to prevent hyperpigmentation.

    Additional Tips:

    • Cool Compresses: If there is swelling or discomfort, cool compresses can be applied.

    • Soothing Ingredients: Products with aloe vera, chamomile, or hyaluronic acid can help soothe the skin. If areas become itchy, apply hydrocortisone to those areas only.

    Important Reminders:

    • Follow your specific practitioner's instructions, as they may have tailored recommendations for your individual skin type and peel depth.

    • Contact your practitioner if you experience excessive pain, redness, swelling, or signs of infection.

  • Days 1 – 2:

The treated area may feel tight and appear darker. Underlying pigmentation spots may appear darker.

The day of the peel application is "Day 1." The peel solution should remain on the treated areas for at least six hours. Do not wash, touch, rub, or apply SPF or makeup to the treated areas during this time.

The Post Peel Moisturizer with 1% hydrocortisone, which is included in the Patient Home Care Kit, may be used after six hours only if:

    • The skin feels excessively irritated or uncomfortable

    • The patient is a Fitzpatrick Skin Type 4-6, with melasma or hyperpigmentationThe peel self-neutralizes after six hours, at which time you may cleanse with The Perfect Cleanser any gentle cleanser.

    Day 2 (AM):

    • Gently wash and dry the treated areas

    • Vigorously apply the 1st Post Peel Towelette to the treated areas while in its square, folded shape

    • Continue to apply the towelette, and as it dries out, unfold it completely and continue to apply it vigorously until all the solution is used

    • Allow the skin to dry for 30 minutes before applying Mineral Perfection SPF 30 Makeup may be worn if desired. However, it is best to keep the skin free of makeup for the entire seven days. Foundation makeup and powder can cause irritation in some patients. It is acceptable to use mascara, brow products, or lipstick.

    Day 2 (PM):

    • 30-60 minutes before bedtime, gently wash and dry the treated areas

    • Vigorously apply the 2nd Post Peel Towelette to the treated areas while in its square, folded shape

    • Continue to apply the towelette, and as it dries out, unfold it completely and continue to apply until all the solution is used

    • Leave the towelette solution on overnight. If you are experiencing irritation, apply a small amount of The Post Peel Moisturizer 2-3 times daily.

If The Post Peel Moisturizer irritates the skin, a 1% over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream may be substituted. You may also add a gentle, non-comedogenic moisturizer if desired (we recommend CeraVe or Cetaphil).

If needed, you may place a cold compress against the irritated area. If there is no significant irritation, do not use moisturizing products on the treated areas until peeling begins, usually on Day 3.

IMPORTANT: Avoid excessive sweating, swimming, sauna, heavy exercise, or sun exposure during the peeling process, as these activities may cause irritation or additional downtime.

    Days 3-6:

Peeling generally begins on Day 3. Continue to cleanse your skin gently morning and evening during the entire 7-day peel process.

Two to three times a day, apply a thin layer of The Post Peel Moisturizer to the treated areas once peeling begins to help control dryness and relieve tightness.

The Post Peel Moisturizer is to be used as follows:

    • One week for Caucasian patients

    • Two weeks for Asian, Black, Hispanic, and patients with darker skin Additional

    Tips:

    • Do not rub, pick, or pull on the peeling skin, as this may cause scarring

    • Gently wash and dry the treated areas morning and night

    • Do not use scrubs, masks, or any strong products such as retinoids

    • Mineral Perfection SPF 30 should be applied every two hours during sun exposure.

    Days 7 and After:

The peeling process is generally complete. Continue to protect the skin with Mineral Perfection SPF 30. You may resume the use of your regular skin care products unless your skin is not fully healed. If you have residual irritation or mild peeling, wait until your skin is 100% healed!!!

  • Botox

    Immediate Post-Treatment (First Few Hours):

    • Avoid touching or rubbing the treated area: This prevents the Botox from migrating to unintended areas.

    • Stay upright: Avoid lying down for at least 4 hours to prevent Botox from moving.

    • Gentle exercise of treated muscles: Gently contract the treated muscles (e.g., frowning or raising eyebrows) for about an hour to help the Botox integrate

    • Avoid heat exposure: Saunas, hot tubs, and prolonged sun exposure can increase blood flow and potentially affect Botox distribution

    First 24 Hours:

    • Avoid strenuous activities:

      • Vigorous exercise can increase blood flow and potentially affect Botox results, according to VIO Med Spa.

    • Avoid alcohol and painkillers:

      • These can thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising.

    • Be gentle with your skin:

      • Avoid facials, massages, or other skin treatments that involve rubbing or pressure, notes Reza Health.

    • Consider using ice packs:

      • If you experience swelling or bruising, apply ice packs wrapped in a cloth to the treated area.

    Longer-Term Care (Beyond 24 Hours):

    • Continue to be gentle with your skin: Avoid abrasive cleansers or scrubs.

    • Avoid Retin-A or Retinol for a few days: These can irritate the skin and potentially interfere with Botox's effectiveness.

    • Follow any specific instructions from your provider: Individual practitioners may have additional recommendations based on your specific treatment.

    Important Considerations:

    • Results are not immediate: It can take several days for the full effects of Botox to be visible.

    • Monitor for side effects: Mild redness, swelling, and bruising are normal and should subside within a few days.

    • Contact your provider if you have concerns: If you experience any unusual or persistent side effects, contact your healthcare provider.

  • Immediate Post-Treatment (First 24-48 Hours):

    • Avoid touching, rubbing, or massaging the treated area: to prevent product displacement and infection.

    • Do not lie down or engage in strenuous exercise: for at least 4 hours after treatment.

    • Avoid extreme heat and sunlight exposure: such as saunas, hot tubs, and prolonged sun exposure for 24-72 hours.

    • Consider using a cold compress: to reduce swelling and discomfort but avoid direct ice application.

    • Stay hydrated: and avoid excessive alcohol or salty foods, as these can contribute to swelling.

    • Avoid active skincare products: like retinoids or AHAs for 24-48 hours.

    • Do not wear makeup: for at least 24 hours after treatment, and when resuming, use clean brushes and applicators.

    • If you are prone to cold sores, continue taking your prescribed medication as directed.

    Longer-Term Care:

    • Continue to avoid pressure on the treated area: for a few days, especially if you tend to sleep on your face.

    • Avoid facials, waxing, or other skin treatments: for at least two weeks.

    • Protect your skin from the sun: with sunscreen and consider wearing a hat when outdoors.

    • If you experience any unusual pain, discoloration, or blistering, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
